Robert Hunter Wade (born 1944) is a political economy and development scholar. He is currently Professor of Political Economy and Development at the Development Studies Institute (DESTIN), London School of Economics. He was born in Australia to New Zealand parents. He was educated in Wellington, New Zealand, and Sussex University. He then worked at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Sussex from 1972–1995. He has also worked at the World Bank, 1984–1988.
